Day 3 | 14 Sep 2021
Likir to Yangthang (3630 MTS / 11910 FT; 4 – 5 HRS trek)

Today we commence our trekking journey with a short taxi drive to Likir, located approximately 58 kms away. Likir Village (3650m) is the starting point of our trek. Although we cover a short distance today, we will cross through two passes on a route which is warm and without much shade. From Likir the route heads west up to the first pass- Phobe La (3580m) beyond which lies Sumdo village. Here we have a good opportunity to take panoramic views of the surrounding landscape from the pass. Continuing on the trail we trek steadily upwards till we get to the second pass- Chagatse La (3630m). The village of Yangthang (3630m) is across this pass, where we shall camp for the night, next to a stream. The Ridzong Monastery lies about an hour south of Yangthang. Overnight at a homestay.

Day 4 | 15 Sep 2021
Yangthang – Hemis Shukpachen (3630 MTS/11910 FT) across Tsermangchen La (3875 MTS/12715 FT, 2-3 HR)

Our trek for today is an easy walk despite the fact that we travel through a pass, as both the approach and the descent will be on gentle slopes. The trail heads north, dipping down a bit and crossing a stream before climbing up west again to the pass- Tsermangchen La (3750m). After a short rest at the pass we trek down to Hemis Shukpachen. This village is named after a grove of cedar trees and is one of Ladakh’s prettiest villages. There are several sparkling streams surrounded by shady willows and large barley fields which provide a touch of green to the otherwise desolate rocky mountain terrain. Overnight at a homestay.

Day 5 | 16 Sep 2021
Hemis Shukpachan to Tingmosgang (3230 MTS / 10597 FT, 4 HRS trek)

Today we begin our trek from the village of Hemis Shukpachan walking onto a flat ground through an unclear pass alongside the Chortens (stupas). A steep descent lead us to the right side of the mountains and we climb steadily on the slope towards the Mebtak La (3720 m), where many prayer flags can be seen fluttering.
After taking a short rest with scenic views from the pass, we head down to the village of Ang. From Ang, we head south on dusty jeep roads to the village of Tingmosgam. Tingmosgam is famous for its monastery and is a well-known village in the Sham valley popular for its apricots, apples, nuts and beautiful houses. Our night in Tingmosgam marks an end to the trekking journey on this route. Overnight at a homestay.

Day 6 | 17 Sep 2021
Tingmosgang to Leh

This morning, we drive back to Leh. On the way we visit Alchi Gompa – known for its magnificent and well preserved 11th & 12th century wall paintings & the only monastery in Ladakh built on flat ground. We see Sangam of the rivers Indus & Zanskar – two of Himalaya’s great rivers where Zanskar and Indus merge to form a spectacular view, Magnetic Hill – also known as Gravity Hill where vehicles defy the force of gravity, Patthar Sahib Gurudwara – a beautiful Gurudwara sahib constructed in the memory of Guru Nanak and Hall of Fame War Museum – a museum constructed by the Indian Army in memory of the brave Indian soldiers who laid down their lives defending the motherland in the Indo-Pak wars. Overnight at hotel in Leh.
